When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

    Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. • WHCP Vision:

To be the most valued, vital and vibrant audio service on Maryland’s MidShore. One that inspires people to learn about and understand the world around them, to represent the culture and spirit of the area, and to increase the access and appreciation of arts and culture on Maryland’s Mid-Shore.

    WHCP Mission:

To provide a trusted and indispensable source of information, perspective, and the arts while strengthening the civic, cultural and economic life of the communities we serve.

    WHCP Values:

    • Inclusion: We believe that the fabric of our community is stronger when all of its members have the opportunity to express their diverse passions, knowledge, interests and abilities.

    • Empowerment: We promote the exchange of ideas that enrich people’s lives and provide opportunities for people in Maryland’s Mid-Shore to share their musical passion.

    • Information: We believe that information is power – and provide timely weather forecasts, emergency alerts, local and national news, public affairs and political coverage for the Mid-Shore.

    • Cultural Awareness and Appreciation: We believe that music is a universal language. We encourage a broad range of music presentations curated and shaped by passions.

    • Arts Appreciation: We encourage the appreciation of arts through our own music programs and local audio theater as well as amplifying the voice of other arts organizations on Maryland’s Mid-Shore.

    • Mutual Support and Connections: We foster connections to help strengthen community engagement and civic improvement.

    • Independence: We believe that strong communities take responsibility for understanding the issues that affect them and that locally-controlled public media has the responsibility to provide viewpoints and information unavailable elsewhere.

    • Accessibility: We believe everyone should have access to arts and information. We make our content available as broadly as possible via broadcast, streaming, on apps as well as a Reading Service for the Blind.

    • Local: We believe that Maryland’s Mid-Shore benefits from ongoing dialogue about our region’s environmental, economic, and social issues. Such dialogue develops our understanding of the place where we live and deepens our commitment to sustaining it.
  • In this age when local media is hard to find and community engagement is on the wane, WHCP community radio plays a vital role. Since 2015 WHCP has informed, inspired and delighted people from its home in Cambridge MD. WHCP helps Maryland’s Mid-Shore flourish by serving the economic, information, and inspiration needs of its citizens.

In 2022, WHCP won a rare new broadcast license from the FCC to expand from a low-power station (WHCP-LP) reaching 10 miles around Cambridge to a more powerful station reaching all of Dorchester, most of Talbot and other counties on the Mid-Shore, a service area with more than 70,000 people.
