Gabrielle Suver is a longtime triathlete but after an accident where she was hit by a car and left on the side of the road she wondered if she'd even be able to walk.Instead, 10 months later Suver competed in Ironman Maryland and finished in the top ten female pro athletes.

Cambridge played host to the 2026 IRONMAN Maryland competition on September 19. The 140.6 mile event is comprised of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run. The 1st place male was Cameron Wurf of Australia with a time of 7:13:52. First place female was Mena Suter of Switzerland with a time of 8:49:15.
