Big changes have been happening at the Richardson Maritime Museum in Cambridge. There's been a transformation, kind of a renaissance for the venerable institution.
That has coincided with the efforts by a number of people, but none more key than the Richardson's executive director, Debbie Usab, who is with us today.
The Richardson was in shambles before Debbie Usab got involved. Grants had gone unspent and unaccounted for, the board was listless, the museum building on Hayward Street had been crammed with exhibits, documents, models and debris from the old location on High Street, and there was no apparent direction. Plus, the organization was having difficulty meeting its mortgage payments.
Now, all those things have been turned around.
