The Heart of the Chesapeake Heritage Area board bestowed awards last week for organizations and volunteers who enhance and preserve the historical and cultural traditions of Dorchester County.
Heritage Board chair Veronica Taylor announced three awards – volunteer, project and organization of the year = at the Cambridge Women’s Club.
Taylor saluted Ruth Clendaniel, recipient of the Caroline Cline Volunteer of the Year award.
The Richardson Maritime Museum was honored as Organization of the Year for carrying on the tradition of crafting boats at its Ruark Boat Works.
The Project of the Year was the “Shine Your Light” latin mural. In awarding the distinction, Taylor noted that the mural was a combined effort of the Dorchester Center for the Arts and Miriam Moran, a Cambridge mural artist.
