With a vast library of the world’s greatest swing hits, Jim Marquette guarantees you will have a great time, and remember: “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing!”
‘Swingin’ with Jim,’ delivers nostalgic ‘Swing’ or ‘Big Band’ music to our listeners in one-hour segments that feature re-issues of the music that captivated the country in the 1930’s and 1940’s, commonly known as the Swing Era. Bands led by Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and many others are heard regularly.
Jim explains: “I have loved swing music all my life. ‘Swingin’ with Jim’ culminates a lifetime of devotion to this music, stemming from my relationship with my father who played trumpet in local bands as a youth during the 1930’s. He was a strong influence on me, and he taught me what makes this music tick. As a result, rock-and-roll and all the other genres that have followed hold no interest for me. When Mike Starling offered me the position of on-the-air host for big band music, it was a dream come true, and it has brought great joy and purpose to my life. Now at WHCP I get to share the music I love with swing fans around the world through streaming from Cambridge, Maryland, USA. on FM 101.5 , Cambridge Community Radio. Join me!!”
