"Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" was the final episode of M*A*S*H. The episode aired on February 28, 1983, and broke the record for the highest percentage of homes (125 million viewers) to watch a television series. Also in 1983, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton took a song that was written by Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees and made it into a huge hit. "Islands In The Stream" turned out to be Billboard's Country Song of the entire year. On the next Rockin' Randall Classic Country Call-In Request Show, we'll continue to spotlight specific years in Classic Country music history, highlighting the greatest songs of the year. Also, I will look back on the top news, sports and entertainment stories of that year. I hope you can join me Saturday morning from 6-9 for Classic Country by request and the very best from the year of 1983 on 91.7 WHCP-A Great Place To Be and NPR for the Mid-Shore. Please Like us and Share us on Facebook and tell all your friends about our show and all the wonderful programs on community sponsored radio, WHCP. You can listen from our webpage at whcp.org and you can listen from our free app, as well. Archived shows can be heard on spinitron.com/whcp We are streaming worldwide, so you can listen anytime and from anywhere. Our phone number into the studio with your request is (443) 637-6000. Help out if you are able- there is a great need!Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) is declaring an emergency as a proactive step to offset a recent decline in blood donations likely from inclement weather, the holidays and school breaks. BBD is sending out an urgent call to donors asking them to donate.Declaration of a blood emergency raises awareness of the need for blood, encourages first-time and lapsed blood donors to action, and can significantly impact donor appointments and blood donations. The Blood Bank is prioritizing platelets and type O negative red cells in their call for support from the community. The inventory of these blood products has dropped along with their supply of B negative red cells. They have increased their available appointments to collect more blood and rebuild their inventory Visit BBD’s website, delmarvablood.org/donate-blood/ or call 1.888.8.BLOOD.8 for the closest location near you. ...
